back to blogging randomness

hadley's first snowman. there hasn't been a lot of snow this year but we took advantage of one snow day that dad happened to be in town. we gathered our gear and scurried up to grandma and grandpa McMillan's (in east layton they tend to have more snow.) we found a random stick that worked perfectly for our man's mouth and used acorn twigs for the buttons (after they didn't work for the eyes), rocks for eyes and grandma supplied the scarf. the eyebrows were my personal touch. we couldn't find a hat but i don't think it would have worked anyway since our snowman had an abnormally large head.

me and chel in our new soulpro shirts at the meg and dia (i guess it's "dia frampton" now) concert. the guy selling them was the designer and therefore had a lot of belief in his product and he knew how to compliment us and get the sell. the soulpro logo is about supporting the arts and having an open mind. although i don't know that i would have made the purchase if he didn't sell me on it, i do believe in supporting the arts and having an open mind and it's good for lounging in comfort in the cold winter months and will be good for snowboarding if i ever get back up on the mountain.
aren't they darling? LOVE them. this concert was amazing! i love to dance like no one is watching and wish that i didn't have to tone it down as much as i do. live music is an important part of my life. i have a strong need to move my body to the rhythm of live music. i just love this pic of my darling friends at court's b day party. julie did an amazing job at decorating, cooking and making this a super special and fun girl's night. she is very talented and thoughtful.

Nashville

We went to visit Jake in Nashville for the fourth of July weekend since he was selling about an hour from there. It was quite warm but lots of fun. They had a lot going on for the holiday. This first picture is downtown.

Our new friends. The Youngs: Brett, Jana, Kyler, Daxton, and Boston. We've been playing with them lots the last couple of weeks.

Belly bump! July 3, 2011 (7 months)

As my mom would say "Ooohh, it's Elvis!"
We were sad we couldn't stay for the fourth to see the Darius Rucker concert and the fireworks on the river. We did, however, have fun playing on the waterfront. Taking a break from walking in the heat, it even rained for a little bit. Lovely.

In Transit

Chillen' in the car seat on the way to Kentucky. Hadley was a trooper on all of our long car rides this summer... although in more recent drives she has gotten a lot louder and started with the "mom, mom, mom MOM." Rather obnoxious.

Our first hotel in Kentucky, before we got into our apartment. This was the week of the Kentucky Derby.

Michigan

Hadley on the swing at the apartment's little playground. The tennis court was right behind our balcony and Hadley is facing a pond with ducks.

Trying to get used to a big girl bed since we forgot her port-o-crib. She fell asleep right outside the door a few times, crying. This was the worst time, as we couldn't even open the door. She also loves shoes and has fallen asleep holding and/or wearing shoes quite a few times. One day in Michigan, after we had been swimming a few times, she insisted on wearing her life jacket to bed. Luckily it was only for a nap not bed-bed.

Easter Egg Hunt

Ward Easter Egg Hunt
the closest thing to an Easter celebration since we had just arrived in Michigan at 1 Easter morning. We just wanted to relax after a 24 hour straight drive.

Why are they making us wait? I can see the eggs right there!!!

Look, there are eggs in my basket!

This is so much fun!
Victory! I found all my eggs!

This following video and picture are from right before we left for Michigan which led us to Kentucky. It was after the ward playgroup Easter egg hunt and after nap so Hadley had lost the skirt and had stolen my headband. I had a way better video where she was dancing around on her tiptoes. How did she know that's what you do when you wear leg warmers and funky headbands? Sooo freaking cute! and I am SOOO sad that it somehow got erased. I just went to upload my photos finally and was heartbroken that it isn't there. I know I wouldn't delete it intentionally and don't know what happened. So although this video isn't as darling, I had to upload it in memory of the other one. Maybe it will at least help me keep record of it in my head. Oh, and in the video I was trying to get Hadley to say 'thank you' because she is usually so polite and says it a lot and I love how she says it. But as you can see, two year olds won't do something when you really want them to...

1st Christmas Card

Holly Chocolate Christmas
View the entire collection of cards.

I'm excited to have our first family Christmas card. Although, it's actually more like a New Year's card since I am so late in getting it done. Oh well, you gotta start somewhere, right?

Mother's Day Fun

Why am I having such a hard time getting words above the 1st pic? It really should not be this hard!
Anyway, my first mother's day as an actual mother (with a kid outside the womb) was wonderful! We had a fun day and had my mom, Steve, Tai, and Dal over. We ate yummy dinner and played some old school Nintendo, Dr. Mario to be exact (my favorite). Then we ate strawberry shortcake for dessert. Hadley was really getting tired. But then we had some dessert and got some sugar in her and she was ready for round 2. She was being so silly! Daddy was also silly and put Hadley's shirt on her head.
I love this first pic cuz it looks like she is skipping, but really it was just a step-fall.
Grandma teased Grandpa Steve for putting Hadley on top of the box instead of inside
Then Hadley biffed it good (but came up smiling, I was laughing till my tummy hurt)

So grandpa made the proper adjustments. Hadley wasn't so sure about this game anymore.

A cute, happy picture with Daddy. This kid knows to smile when mommy has the camera out. She is so dang smart!
Mommy wanted in on the picture fun. (Sometimes she feels left out cuz she's always behind the lens.)
We had lots of fun! I love being Hadley's mommy!

Swing Swing Swing

Hadley's first time swinging at the annual McMillan Easter party that we had a few weeks late because of the crazy Utah weather.

This pic looks like she is doing a peace sign. I love it!
She thought it was funny to kick dad in the face

I love her sweet giggles! (this is my first time uploading a video. I've come so far!)

Ultimate Jazz Fans

We had some fun Jazz time in the month of April. Every year Craig (Jake's dad) invites us to a fun Jazz night with the Utah Funeral Director's Association. We go and eat dinner and afterward they have shooting competitions. There is a 'Lighting' competition and then a three-point competition. I was proud to get in the top six for the womens 3-point comp. Jake took the mens 'Lightning' competition which won him $75!
Hadley didn't know what to do with so much open space. She was having a ball just crawling in circles!
Dad always makes things more fun!

We were able to go to the Jazz-Phoenix game with the UFDA and we also got the hookup on tickets for the first two playoff games. Although the Phoenix game was a major disappointment and lost us home-court advantage, the Jazz pulled through and won both of the playoff games. Both games were against Denver (The team that I hate the most!), and the games were a blast! The arena was packed and had so much energy!
1st home game of the series.
2nd home game when I purchased my cute green Jazz shirt. Now I'm a true fan! Jake got one too and his is way cute on him. Mine's a little too big, dangett!
